Immigration collapse eases Aussie schools shortage

Back in 2016, Peter Goss – School Education Program Director at the Grattan Institute – wrote an excellent article in The Conversation assessing the upcoming shortage of schools across Australia’s capital cities as the nation’s population balloons.

According to Goss, Australia needed some 400 to 750 new schools to accommodate an extra 650,000 students.

Around the same time, the former Turnbull Government introduced a new visa class that enabled international students and their guardians access to Australian schools, along with the ability to buy property ahead of applying for permanent residency (see here, here and here).
