With the advent of the ALP proposing to limit Negative Gearing of Residential Real Estate to new construction only, should it be successful at this year’s federal election, triggering a range of responses in the Australian political sphere and media, Gunnamatta spoke with Leith van Onselen and David Llewellyn-Smith about the effect of Negative Gearing on investment in Australia’s property sector, as well as the implications for real estate prices, rents, and Australian economy if it was to be changed in any way.

The discussion looks at the history of Negative Gearing, claims about who Negative Gears and who gains the most benefit from the billions of dollars lost due to negative gearing from the revenue side of the budget, the Australian economic model it is central to, as well as a range of spurious claims proffered about why it shouldn’t be touched.

A 50 minute discussion it comes in two parts, MP3 and Ogg
