Big iron slams into Canberra’s Twiggy inquiry

From the AFR:

A “furious campaign” by big iron ore miners could see a proposed federal parliamentary inquiry into the industry heavily watered down or defeated.

Independent Senator Nick Xenophon who is behind the bill which has been triggered following a row between FMG’s Twiggy Forrest and BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto over allegations the big two are driving down prices is set to be voted on in the Senate at mid-day.

The vote has been postponed to June 16.

Meanwhile, Twiggy’s drivel deepens, from The Australian:

Iron ore magnate Andrew Forrest is to open a new front in his battle with Rio Tinto and BHP Billiton, launching a new campaign group and website, ourironore.com.

The website, which has been quietly active for a week but could be officially launched as soon as this afternoon, claims to represent “a group of concerned individuals, businesses and not-for-profit organisations campaigning for a sustainable future for our important mining industry”.

As we enter the rentier twilight zone.
