Stocks came back today in Asia as more and more traders are tending to believe the nascent trade war initiated by Stormy Trump won’t even start with a single shot.

By Chris Becker Stocks were quite mixed overnight with European bourses leading the way before getting wobbly on Wall Street, where the White House tried to dampen the Trump trade war casualties, but risk managers weren’t buying it.

Stocks in Asia reactively negatively to the sudden resignation of Trump’s top economic adviser in a sign that the Twit-in-Chief’s trade war will not go away, even though almost every serious economic commentator and player has said its a stupid idea.

Asian stocks have rallied on the back of the reversal overnight as concerns over Trump’s trade war abate, as oil continued to blip higher, the USD remained steady after considerable action on the majors overnight .

Don’t look for rationality here.

The selloff from overnight continued here in Asia today as markets weighed up the return of King Dollar and the more hawkish head of the Fed.

Harvey Norman today joins the retailer carnage: Sales growth was actually OK at 4.1%: But there’s margin pressure probably from discounting: Macquarie analysts say Harvey Norman’s interim result was “weak from an underlying perspective” and there was “no clear cause of the Australia franchising margin reduction”.
