It sure is entertaining. But any strategy that relies upon lightning regularly striking to win is fantastic for a good opposition.
England was lucky enough to enjoy three lightening strikes in this test, and it still wasn’t enough:
- A desperate session of bodyline rolled the Aussies in the second innings.
- Ben Duckett was given not-out to a clear catch by Mitchell Starc.
- Ben Stokes bludgeoned 150 at nearly a run-a-ball on a fifth-day track.

Any strategy that relies upon repeated lightning strikes over five days is indistinguishable from luck.
