Greens: Taxpayers should pay for flammable cladding removal

Strata Communities Australia and the Greens have called on the federal government to pay for the upfront cost of removing flammable cladding from apartment buildings. SCA CEO Alisha Fisher says some apartment owners are looking at having to pay as much as $60,000 to have cladding removed from their unit. Greens MP Adam Bandt says now is the time to act and get rid of flammable cladding, given the potential dangers. He says the government should fix the problem now, and then recoup the costs from those responsible later. From The AFR:
