Big George demands immigration cut, coal pork

Big George is in serious trouble but he has a solution, via The Australian:

Queensland Nationals MP George Christensen has called for the swift construction of a high intensity low emissions coal fired power station in North Queensland and at least three new dams in his home state.

He also said the government needed to more strongly defend mainstream Australian values as part of a political strategy to help re-engage voters such as more firmly rejecting proposals to move Australia Day from January 26.

Mr Christensen said he was not surprised by ReachTEL polling — commissioned by the Australian Institute — showing that One Nation and the LNP were neck-and-neck in his electorate with both sitting on a 30 per cent primary vote.

He strongly backed any moves towards reducing immigration levels saying this “absolutely” needed to be examined by the Turnbull government.

However, he expressed scepticism about scrapping the renewable energy target and agreed with Scott Morrison that overturning the legislated commitment to reach 23.5 per cent by 2020 would present a sovereign risk to Australian.

Always bet on self-interest.
