Shadow PM Abbott launches Coalition election campaign

From The Australian:

Rallying Liberal Party members in Tasmania, Mr Abbott said the next parliament needed a Coalition government to continue “the vital task of budget repair”.

“It’s not easy, it never is, but it has to be done,” the former prime minister said.

…“What the Turnbull government offers in Canberra is prudent, frugal government and competent management of our nation’s affairs.”

In a masterful display of negative campaigning, Mr Abbott warned an ALP government would impose on Australians a “housing tax”, a “wealth tax”, a “seniors tax”, a “carbon tax” and a “smokers tax”.
