Unemployment in detail: Bubble jobs

As summarised earlier, the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) today released labour force data for the month of September, which registered a small fall in the headline unemployment rate (from 6.22% to 6.16%) despite the loss of 5,100 jobs.

The result missed analyst’s expectations that the unemployment rate would remain steady at 6.2%, but with 9,600 jobs created.
