Deep holes engulf Coalition’s data retention scheme

More flaws have been exposed in the Abbott Government’s metadata legislation, which would require telecommunications companies to store detailed information about the calls and internet use of its customers for two years.

Following recent revelations that the scheme would create a honeypot for hackers and lawyers, Green’s MP, Scott Ludlam, has exposed a variety of run-in-the-mill ways that users could circumvent the scheme, rendering it an expensive waste of taxpayers money and an unnecessary intrusion of privacy.
