Jeez, it’s all happening. Rob Oakeshott and Tony Windsor are quitting at the election.

Moreover, if Rudd is to assume power he is going to need the support of four of the independents.

Oakeshott kind of hinted yesterday that he might do so based on policy. Andrew Wilkie said yesterday he would support Rudd. But Windsor said today that:

“If the Labor Party can’t get its mess together . . . there may be a scenario where the second place getter, a bloke called Tony Abbott, would in fact receive my vote,” Mr Windsor said.

Adam Bandt is certain to support Labor come what may.

Now Bob Katter is out cancelling out Windsor:

Prior to the ALP caucus meeting I advise that if, and only if, caucus selects Kevin Rudd then I will provide a vote of confidence to facilitate his election as leader,” Mr Katter told reporters in Canberra on Wednesday.

I think that means the way is open for Rudd! (please correct if I have something wrong here…)
