Melbourne lifts stock on market in February

SQM Research has just released Stock on Market data for the month of February, which registered a 1.9% increase over the month, driven predominantly by big increases in listings in Melbourne and Sydney (see below table).

The rise in listings is largely seasonal, as listings typically increase over the first few months of the year as the autumn selling season picks-up. When compared to January 2012, listings nationally actually fell by -1.1%, with all capitals except Melbourne and Canberra experiencing falls over the year.

Once again, Melbourne appears to be the exception, with listings there on the rise once more and way above Sydney.
