Chart of the Day: pining for wine

I was going to post a more gruesome chart of the flash PMI’s from Europe last night, but Delusional Economics is writing a report on the result, so this chart from The Economist should take its place:

It really is a two speed global economy with the USA, China and Russia expanding,  whilst in percentage terms, the French and Italians have cut back their consumption but the former still have the biggest exports by value, the latter leading the way in volume.

Drink up!

  1. Ah! So, contrary to my assertion that the answers lie back in time, the answer was right there in front of me…Drink more wine!

    • It looks a bit like there might just be a correlation between wine consumption and Balance on the Current Account!!!!
I hope so as it would mean I don’t have just a one track mind!

  2. I have a couple of close friends who I know are partly responsible for the increase in wine consumption.

I may have helped a lttle as well.
