With its great view of fireworks, New Year’s Eve at Williamstown is a robust affair. This year was a bust.
Police in every uniform and mounted on every conveyance outnumbered a crowd perhaps 20% the size of last year. Bikes, motorbikes, quads, horses, and jackboots corralled desultory revellers.
Reveller in name only. Official violence stomped any twitch in the crowd so fast that the scene more resembled a fast-failing totalitarian protest than it did a party, and the only fear was for those determined to stamp out fear.
In short, NYE was destroyed to save NYE.
While the nation’s media and so-called elite twist the Bondi Massacre into a macabre cause célèbre, let us consider the first principles behind what has happened to Australiana at NYE and beyond, leading to this outcome.
A Labour government has used mass immigration and policy cowardice to crash living standards at the fastest pace since the Great Depression. It has hidden these maddening facts behind lionised culture wars, misused as great distractions of fake politics.
In its first term, the Indigenous Voice took precedence, even as per capita living standards collapsed via an unnecessary and avoidable inflation shock, including for the Indigenous.
As the same failing government moved toward a second term, the foreign Levantine War took the rhetorical lead in the culture war diversion to hide another vast and unnecessary inflation shock.
Labour stalwarts, new and old, took to that culture war distraction with gusto, on both sides depending upon the ethnic mix of their constituents, even as living standards kept on falling, with Australians growing ever angrier at the unfolding distractions.
Even the Harbour Bridge was commandeered for the culture war, and, since Bondi, the Opera House too. Our great national symbols are now regularly pawned as propaganda foghorns.
Yet, what all of these fabulous folk forgot is that the Levantine War is, in fact, an actual war. Culture warriors invited themselves into a foreign war, and, lo and behold, it fired back with real bullets.
It is a simple fact that Israel and Palestine have never had less relevance to Australia. OPEC is gutted by US shale oil. There are no more wars for oil in the Middle East essential to the running of Australia. The US is busy plucking the wings off flies in South America.
Local communities of 120k Jews and 800k Muslims are now Australia’s only direct connection to the Levant. A very small minority of Australians who may, or may not, be personally affected by the war.
Everybody else is pretending to care in some Clintonian vestige of liberal democratic arrogance. Nothing any Australian does will have any effect on a war that has been raging for well over 2000 years, literally a planet away.
The preponderance of youth in the local Levantine support movements suggests a cause of anger much closer to home. Angry children watching Australian dreams burn in Labor’s smoking crater of lost living standards are a ripe demographic to mislead, especially for a government that daily lies about fixing such things.
If this is the future of the Australian political economy—endless culture wars fought over real foreign wars to hide the economic abyss of the mass-immigration economic model—then what lies ahead is ominous.
First, we have other substantial, fast-growing minorities involved in ongoing and likely future wars. It is a small step to imagine them as actual or emerging fifth columns ready to act alone or be exploited by vicious foreign dictators in proxy culture wars fought on Australian soil.
Second, as the mass-immigration economic model crushes living standards by diluting the nation’s capital and squeezing its labour and youth in particular, with AI bringing up the rear to intensify the latter, Canberra’s distracting culture wars will continue to rise alongside a generalised social disintegration.
As a veritable police state emerges to crush “hate”, a social melting pot turned explosive cauldron will erupt more often, not less.
