New Zealand Prime Minister Chris Luxon has announced that the general election will be held on 7 November 2026, with Parliament dissolving on 1 October.

The announcement comes amid tight and volatile polling, with NZ First rising sharply, Labour gaining ground, but the National‑led coalition still ahead.
