Coalition proposes fake immigration cut

The Susan Ley-led opposition has promised that a future Coalition government would run a ‘smaller’ immigration program that is around 100,000 below current extreme levels and basically the same as excessive pre-pandemic levels:

Sources familiar with the Coalition’s discussions said the new migration policy would focus on reducing net overseas migration, potentially to below 200,000 a year. Foreign students, non-skilled workers and the humanitarian intake could be targets…
