Business leaders join Australians in call for lower immigration

All recent opinion polls show that Australian voters are fed up with excessive levels of immigration.

People cite the impact on the housing market as a major concern. Recently, AMP chief economist forecast that Australia’s cumulative housing shortage is at least 200,000 and could be as much as 300,000.

The latest projections from the National Housing Supply and Affordability Council (NHSAC) project that Australia’s housing shortage would worsen by 79,000 over the five years to 2028–29 as population growth continues to outrun new housing construction.
