Australian renters should champion lower immigration

Australian renters have suffered disproportionately at the hands of record immigration levels, which saw an astonishing 1,227,000 net migrants arrive in Australia over the 33 months to Q1 2025.

As shown below by Justin Fabo from Antipodean Macro, most of these migrants arrived through the temporary migration system and required rental housing.

As a result, advertised rents skyrocketed.
