The AFR’s economics correspondent, Michael Read, joined the fold, picking apart Chalmers’ rubbery claims:

“Inflation-adjusted “real” wages – a common proxy for living standards – have declined since the start of the year, and are now approaching the 14-year lows”, noted Read.
