The mainstream media was cock-a-hoop over the weekend over the alleged cut to Australia’s immigration intake that is scheduled to be announced today by the Albanese government.

The ABC captured the essence of the changes, which have reportedly been ‘signed-off’ by relevant lobbyists:

“As part of the new migration strategy — which has already been signed off by cabinet and follows months of consultation with the higher education sector, business groups and other stakeholders — steps will be taken to cut the intake of foreign students entering low-quality courses”.
