Australian workers buried under population tsunami

CBA senior economist, Belinda Allen, made the following salient comments in a note on Australia’s latest quarterly population data from the ABS, which was released last week:

“Australia’s population growth has been a key source of resilience for the Australian economy over the past year or so. Without such strong population growth, the Australian economy would have faced amore material slowdown”.

“On per capita terms the Australian economy is moving backwards”.
