Albo the Disaster always prefers a good culture war to actual policymaking:
The US has announced the creation of an enhanced naval protection force operating in the southern Red Sea in an attempt to ward off mounting attacks from Yemen’s rebel Houthis on merchant shipping.
Britain said it would be among the countries participating but notable absentees were Arab nations Egypt and Saudi Arabia while analysts speculated that shipping would continue to be disrupted and attacks continue.
…Other participants in the effort, Austin said, included Bahrain, Canada, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Seychelles and Spain.
But not Australia. It’s going to freeload:
The passage of the AUKUS-enabling bill allows the sale of three Virginia-class nuclear submarines to Australia, enables Australian workers to be trained in US shipyards, and exempts Australia from a maze of US export controls on the transfer of sensitive military technology.
However, on Monday, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese downplayed the notion that Australia had rejected a formal request from the US to join its multinational taskforce, telling ABC radio: “This wasn’t a request, to be clear, from the US government to my government. This was a general request to a range of nations for support there.”
What about the countless hours the Albanese Government has wasted on frothing about the Israel War?
This is just more cowardly politicking from Albo. He would rather play culture wars at home than meet the straightforward national interest test of supporting a US-led coalition of peacekeeping forces that deliver oil to Australia.
How is any ally going to take this bloke seriously?
