Labor shuts down one visa rort, opens others

For a party that bangs on continually about visa integrity, the Albanese Government sure has been slow to shut the rorts.

Last month it was revealed that Labor had failed to close the ‘COVID STREAM’ of sub-class 408 visas, which allowed temporary entrants in Australia whose visas were about to expire or had recently expired to remain and work lawfully in Australia while international borders were closed over the pandemic.

This visa stream offers unlimited work rights, making it very appealing to migrants seeking to work and live in Australia.
