Coalition sets immigration election battleground

The Coalition’s immigration spokesperson, Dan Tehan, was interviewed by ABC RN Drive’s Andy Park on last week’s record immigration numbers from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).

The segment opened up with the below quote from AMP chief economist Shane Oliver:

“If you’ve got more demand in terms of people that need a home and not enough supply, then prices will go up. So the way around that is to peg the level of immigration you have each year to the ability of the housing market to supply new homes”.
