The Business Council of Australia (BCA) is up to its usual tricks:
Australia faces the choice between two futures; one where we continue to have low economic growth dampened by low productivity and low competitiveness, resulting in lower wages growth and lower living standards. This would be a low road for Australians and is totally avoidable.
Or a high-wage, high-growth future with a dynamic economy driven by more resilient, globally facing industries where the country adds value to everything it produces. This is the high road of growth, opportunities and world’s best practice.
It is an economy fuelled by enhanced productivity, greater competitiveness and our ability to unleash the talent of our people to deliver sustained higher wages, maintain full employment and vastly improved living standards.
Then why has the BCA just come off a major campaign promoting mass immigration forever? It achieves precisely the opposite. A disproducivity boom driven by capital shallowing, training hollowing out, labour under-utilisation as physicists work for Uber, and the endless promotion of unproductive industries like real estate.
I’ll tell you why. Because Business Crony members want an endlessly growing market from which they can steal wages:
“Refugees and asylum seekers employed to sort rubbish were systematically exploited and underpaid by one of the biggest recycling organisations in Victoria”.
“A recycling company formerly known as Polytrade, a linked subsidiary, and its owners, were fined more than $375,000 in the federal court this month, over what a judge described as “obnoxious conduct” and a “cavalier disregard” for the law, grossly underpaying migrant workers who spoke little English and were vulnerable to exploitation”.
This is the BCA’s real agenda—the lowest of the low roads. Today’s report is propaganda to cover it up.
Meanwhile, deglobalisation industrial policy in other nations has triggered highly productive investment booms in new manufacturing. The US IRS and CHIPS Acts are breathtaking in their impact:

The BCA and its friends in the fake left have created an Australia that is dumb, slow, fat and getting poorer. Now it wants to pretend it has the answer to its own corrupt system.
This organisation is so intellectually bankrupt that the most productive thing it could contribute is to abolish itself.
