Labor hooked on COVID foreign worker permits

The Coalition Government created the ‘COVID STREAM’ of sub-class 408 visas to provide temporary entrants in Australia with visas that were due to expire or had recently expired to remain and work legally in Australia while international borders were closed.

A variety of temporary visa holders, including students, temporary graduates, working holidaymakers, and seasonal workers, are now eligible for the visa.

The visa stream provides migrants with unlimited work rights, making it particularly tempting to those looking to work and live in Australia. It also includes “members of the family unit in your application”.
