Terry McCrann has attacked Treasurer Jim Chalmers for delaying the announcement of a successor to Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) governor Philip Lowe.
Chalmers maintains that his ‘recommendation’ will go to cabinet soon, but the decision will in fact not be made by cabinet but by the treasurer in ‘consultation’ with the prime minister.
McCrann claims the charade over the appointment is also grossly disrespectful of Lowe, who has been a dedicated servant of the public.
