Quit the woke wellbeing malarkey and focus on per capita economy

The Australians Judith Sloan has attacked Treasurer Jim Chalmers woke “well-being” framework, which was released last week and comprises around 50 indicators showing how Australia’s living standards are supposedly improving:

Sloan notes that the framework ignores the fact that his own department operated a similar framework from the late 1990s until 2017, which was abandoned because it was inaccurate, confusing and useless in terms of informing policy choices.
She also argues that the new wellbeing framework uses a lot of outdated data that tells us nothing about what is happening now.
