The Australian Border Force (ABF) has begun a blitz on companies that sponsor migrant workers, with around 170 firms raided or inspected by ABF officers since the start of July to ensure they are complying with regulations to fairly pay foreign employees.
People working in hospitality, labour hire companies, farms, beauty salons, construction and in IT are among those the ABF has already found that have been ‘ripped’ off by employers.
They have faced sanctions such as fines, warning letters or being banned from sponsoring workers in the future.
