The latest US retail sales print came in softer than expected with the USD eventually lifting slightly after an initial dip on the result. Earning season on Wall Street continued in a positive mood as well with European shares recovering their recent start of week stumble.

Currencies pulled back slightly from their one way trade against USD again but Euro is holding firm above the 1.12 handle while the Australian dollar was pushed back to almost cross below the 68 cent level.

US bond markets saw almost no movement in yields with the 10 year holding just below 3.8%, while oil prices were able to rally again with Brent crude lifting above the $79USD per barrel level. Gold went against the stronger USD and actually extended its recent bounceback to almost hit the $1980USD per ounce level.
