Wall Street just managed to push itself into positive territory at the close as European markets provided more upside direction following the uncertainty of the US jobs report from Friday night still washing over risk markets.
Currencies oscillated post the weekend gap but remain on track against USD with Euro hitting a new monthly high and Pound Sterling at a new yearly high while the Australian dollar again almost managed to break above the 67 cent level after being surprisingly strong through the RBA’s recent rate hike pause.
US bond markets saw more divergence across the yield curve with the 10 year pulling back to exactly the 4% level while oil prices tried to put in a new high on the weaker USD but Brent crude eventually settled at just below the $78USD per barrel level. Gold bounced back as well but still looks somewhat weak at the $1925USD per ounce level.
