The defining feature of woke is the preference for post-liberal fantasy over reality.
But, eventually, woke policies like rampant immigration are so destructive that reality can no longer be held back.
This is the point that Australia’s fake left press has now reached.
After yesterday’s breakthrough, The Woketardian is again forced to acknowledge the disaster it has created for Australian renters, our most vulnerable economic cohort:
Rents continued to climb across Australia in the June quarter, particularly in the biggest cities, with a median unit costing more to rent in Sydney than a median house in every other state capital, data from Domain showed.
A record migrant intake that will swell the nation’s population by 715,000 people over two years and a return of overseas students and temporary visa holders will add to the “rental pressure cooker”, Domain said in its quarterly report. About 127,000 additional dwellings will be needed this financial year alone.
Rental vacancy rates remain at a record low of just 0.4% in Perth and Adelaide, and 0.8% in Brisbane, Powell said. Melbourne’s 1% vacancy level was in line with the national average, while Sydney’s was at 1.2%.
…Canberra’s houses, too, were 2.2% cheaper than three months earlier to rent. With the ACT’s vacancy rate at 1.9%, up from 0.8% a year ago, the national capital’s market was close to being in balance, Powell said.
“Net overseas migration doesn’t weigh in on a market like Canberra as it does in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane,” she said.
There is no discussion of the facts. No commentary acknowledging that The Woketardian is directly responsible for trashing the economic security of Australia’s youth and poor. Why? Because the fatwa is still there:
Immigration – because there are many desperate to hate – must be treated with extreme care by politicians and journalists…The inherently racist parties will seek to use any discussion and any seeming evidence of the negative impact of migrants as fuel to burn their fires of hate.
But the facts of the case must be reported, so the reality is now intruding upon woke Lalaland.
The same can be said of the national broadcaster formerly known as the ABC. The Australian Woke Corporation (AWC) can also hang its head in shame as it freaks out at the fallout of its own woke culture war:
Angela Finch and her three children have called their rental property in the Hobart suburb of Bellerive home for almost three years.
The single parent considers herself lucky to have only been handed one rent increase since she first signed the lease, and is now paying $525 a week to keep a roof over their heads.
“I don’t go to the doctor anymore. I’ve stopped taking my medication. I take my kids when I really, really have to go to the doctor. I get their medications and go without myself,” she said.
“So another increase, I really don’t know how I will survive.
“But at the same time, I don’t know what else to do. I can’t afford to save money for a new bond, the moving costs, the disconnection fees and reconnection fees … I have no choice.
“I just have to keep cutting back to keep a roof over our head, really. It was our home, and it feels much less … like my home.”
“It’s soul destroying and it eats away at you,” she said.
“The further we keep travelling down this road that we’re travelling as a family the less secure I feel, and the more inadequate I feel.
“I feel like I’m failing my children every day and I’m failing them for their future.
“I am working as hard as I can to get us out of this situation. But there seems to be barriers every time.”
Atop this fake left disaster sits ‘Albo from the Projects’. A PM that admires his single, impoverished and homeless Mum so much that he has made it his mission to bring her back to life everywhere.
Not to mention Max Chandler-Mather of The Greens whose simultaneous support for mass immigration and NIMBYs leaves us wishing for a fourth law of thermodynamics stating that a system’s hypocrisy will determine the rate at which its vote goes to zero.
The fake left political silo of AlboGreens/Guardian is far more destructive to Australia’s working classes and poor than the alternative Coalition/Murdoch political silo ever was.
