And why would it be? If Albo didn’t have a house as a kid, why should anybody else?
Reportedly, Albo’s new draft policy platform has finessed its commitment to housing.
Missing from the draft are:
- “Labor acknowledges that access to safe and secure housing is a basic human right and believes that housing affordability is one of the biggest issues facing Australians.”
- “Labor recognises that the responsibility of funding the construction and repair of social housing, including both public and community housing, is the shared responsibility of the Commonwealth and state and territory governments.”
- “Labor will work with the states, territory and local governments and industry stakeholders to help Australians who rent to have access to more secure, affordable, quality, long term housing.”
- “Labor will work with the state, territory and local governments, local organisations and the private sector to reduce homelessness and support people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.”
This should come as no surprise given that since its election. the Albanese Government has done everything in its power to increase homelessness, rental costs and housing inventory shortages at a pace never before seen in Australia including:

- 6k social homes per annum versus 220k needed;
- inflationary surge killing builders all over;
- mass immigration on an unprecedented scale;
- freewheeling labor agreements with 1.5bn people in India and Vietnam.
If it was good enough for Albo, it is good enough for you.
The draft is to be debated at the August national conference in Brisbane if you’d like to attend with some eggs.
