Labour bounces back after Jacinda Ardern exit

Former Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced her resignation on 19 January following months of poor polls showing the Labour Government trailing the National opposition by double digits.

New Prime Minister Chris Hipkins was sworn into the top job a week later and saw Labour immediately bounce back in the polls:

As shown in the chart above, Labor’s primary vote is currently sitting just 2.0% behind National after pulling level recently.
