Peter Martin has long been a rabid supporter of the ‘Big Australia’ mass immigration policy (for example, see here, here, here, and here).

So it was no surprise for Martin to pin Australia’s rental crisis on everything but record net overseas migration, which saw Australia’s population expand by a record high 482,000 in 2022:

According to Martin, the primary reason why rents have soared is because average household size has fallen:
