Victoria to slash 5,000 public service jobs

Around 10% of Victorian public sector jobs are expected to be cut as the Andrews government tries to save money ahead of the state budget.

The Herald Sun reported on Wednesday that all Victorian government departments have been told to cut 10% of ongoing staff, meaning more than 5,000 workers are facing the axe.

The expected cuts would be the largest in more than a decade when former premier Ted Baillieu Liberal Government slash 3,600 jobs.
