Albo’s farcical Housing Future Fund faces defeat

Legislation to establish the federal government’s $10 billion Housing Australia Future Fund (HAFF) appears likely to be defeated in the upper house unless the government agrees to the concessions that are being sought by the Greens, independent senator David Pocock and the Jacqui Lambie Network.

Greens housing spokesman Max Chandler-Mather and Senator Pocock are calling for the HAFF’s proposed $500 million annual spending to be scrapped amid concern the investment will not cover projected shortfalls in ­social and affordable housing.

Pocock is urging the government to double its capital investment to $20 billion.
