Will China invade Taiwan? Not in 2023, at least

In the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in late February, Mizuho’s chief market economist Yasunari Ueno has pondered whether China could invade Taiwan in 2023?

The good news is that invasion is unlikely, in part because the Chinese navy currently has only three aircraft carriers. Thus, it is not yet ready.
