Indian migration agents buy access to immigration minister

The Victorian Labor Party is under scrutiny over revelations regarding a fund-raising dinner which was attended by Immigration Minister Andrew Giles. The private dinner in Melbourne was organised by controversial Labor figure Jasvinder Sidhu, ostensibly to raise funds for the re-election campaign of the state’s Energy Minister Lily D’Ambrosio.
It has been alleged that Indian migration agents paid $1,000 to attend the dinner in order to “buy” access to Giles, and raised concerns with him about delays in granting visas and other immigration-related issues.
