Jobs & Skills Summit opens immigration floodgates

The Albanese Government has lifted the permanent migration cap to a record high 195,000 people, up from the current 160,000:

Addressing the Jobs and Skills summit, [Home Affairs Minister Clare O’Neil] said she hoped the temporary increase meant “thousands more nurses settling in the country this year, thousands more engineers”.

“There is nothing in this room with universal support, but an area where almost everyone agrees is that we need to lift the permanent migration numbers for this year,” she said.
