Yesterday the gas price was as high as $34Gj in Victoria. The east coast average price was $23Gj. The former is a warning of where we are headed without policy intervention.
The latest electricity price is enough to double utility bills over the next year, to add 3.5% to the CPI over one year, and more like 6% over two:

As I keep warning, the evil gas cartel enjoyed the luxury of excess gas through August with one of the six Curtis Island LNG export trains down for maintenance. Now it is back and the pressure to export every molecule to war-profiteer $80Gj global prices comes with it:
Yet I still have nothing to report except the screaming silence emanating from Canberra as Mad King kisses the gas and coal cartel ring, Chicken Charmers hides under the doona, and the Coward-in-Chief, Anthony Albanese, dedicates himself to distraction:
- We were promised a manufacturing revival that is about turn into annihilation.
- We were promised cost-of-living relief that is about to turn into mass impoverishment.
- We were promised rising wages that are about to turn into a crash.
- We were promised greater empathy in policy that is about to trash the most vulnerable.
- We were promised climate change mitigation that is about to into chaos.
- We were promised a swift review of the ADGSM that hasn’t happened.
Where is the $7Gj price trigger in the ADGSM or set as the benchmark for a gas export levy? Not to mention coal!
Either Albo’s cowards trash the cartels or they trash everybody else.
