Climate Minister Chris Bowen has attacked the former Morrison Government after Australia’s emissions rose by 1.5% in the year to March. Accordingly, Bowen is now calling for tougher climate action:
Data released by the federal government showed carbon emissions in the year to March rose by 7.4m tonnes to 487.1m tonnes.
Climate Change Minister Chris Bowen said the figures from the final quarter of the former government showed the need for more ambitious climate change policies.
“We know that in lieu of a climate or energy policy, the previous government relied on a pandemic and drought to reduce emissions,” Mr Bowen said.
