Hospitality industry’s migrant scab grab hits fever pitch

As noted earlier this morning, NSW Treasurer Matt Kean has called for a new visa category that would target lower-skilled occupations to help address labour shortages.

Like clockwork, Restaurant & Catering Australia (R&CA) – the key lobby group for the hospitality industry – has jumped on the idea, presenting a petition to Prime Minister Anthony Albanese calling for reforms to the way the visa system operates.

RCA’s nine priorities include adding restaurant managers and cooks to the occupation lists for temporary skilled visas.
