ACTU rejects ‘open-ended’ visa system

ACTU secretary Sally McManus says unions will resist any talk of a return to an ‘open-ended’ visa system at the federal government’s jobs summit in September. Such a system was in place prior to 2017, and it saw no eligible occupation lists for temporary skilled visas and overseas workers exploited.

McManus also claims that unions are already in discussions with employers’ groups in the leadup to the summit, with immigration being one of the issues they have talked about.
