Record investor lending shuts-out first home buyers

The Australian mortgage market rebounded further in January, according to new data released today by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).

The total value of new mortgage commitments rose by a seasonally adjusted 2.6% in January 2022 to be up 18.2% year-on-year:

Investor mortgage commitments grew by 6.1% in January, versus 1.0% for owner-occupiers.
