NSW Treasurer demands “strong” federal anti-corruption commission

In the lead up to the last federal election Prime Minister Scott Morrison promised a national anti-corruption commission.

Instead, Morrison put forward a farcical model that experts believed would actually “hide corruption, not expose it”. Accordingly, it was opposed in parliament.

Then last month, the Morrison Government shelved legislation to establish a commonwealth integrity commission until after the upcoming election, despite Transparency International’s (TI) latest corruption index revealing that Australia scored its worst ever rating in 2021 after suffering a massive 12 point fall over the past decade:
