Property investors crowd-out first home buyers

The Australian mortgage market rebounded further in December, according to new data released today by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).
The total value of new mortgage commitments rose by a seasonally adjusted 4.4% in December 2021 to be up 26.5% year-on-year:

Investor mortgage demand continues to surpass its 2015 peak. They are also growing at turbo-charged rates, up 73.9% year-on-year versus 12.4% growth for owner-occupiers:
