Glorious Julie Bishop demands Morrison back off China

In what is fast becoming an LNP conflagration of the vanities, former foreign minister Jule Bishop has demanded that “Psycho” Morrison back off China:

Former foreign minister Julie Bishop says all parliamentarians should heed the words of ASIO director-general Mike Burgess and avoid politicising national security and foreign policy.

Her comments come a week after Prime Minister Scott Morrison withdrew a reference to Labor frontbencher Richard Marles as a “Manchurian candidate” during Question Time.

Mr Burgess told 7.30 afterwards the politicisation of national security was “not helpful”.

Not helpful to what? To the ANU where Ms Bishop is now Chancellor? Because trashing the China relationship is in the national interest. What is not helpful is that the Morrison Government has no plan for what comes afterward.

Or is it not helpful to the past? We still don’t really know what happened in 2018 regarding the Jule Bishop Glorious Foundation furor:

Just as a refresher, the “Julie Bishop Glorious Foundation” was created by Chinese mining magnate Sally Zou, who is one of the Liberal party’s largest donors.

The company was established in April last year but changed its name to “Glorious Foundation” a few days later.

A spokeswoman for the Foreign Minister told the Adelaide Advertiser that Ms Bishop had not heard of the company until being contacted by a journalist.

The Foreign Minister repeated those comments in Question Time today, saying that Labor could not fairly compare the company to the conduct of Senator Sam Dastyari.

Sally Zou is still dispensing millions like LNP lollies in SA and we have no idea what she’s getting in return:

Premier Steven Marshall has been accused by the Opposition of blocking the release of documents relating to his interactions with enigmatic Chinese businesswoman and Liberal Party donor Sally Zou.

But Mr Marshall says he has nothing to hide and the government has “always followed the letter of the law” on Freedom of Information releases.

Labor lodged an FOI request last year seeking all correspondence from or to Ms Zou or her companies and was told three documents matched the request.

However, the party was denied access to the correspondence.

In response to an appeal, Labor received a letter signed by Mr Marshall, as “Principal FOI Officer” of the Office of the Premier, again refusing access to the documents on the basis the release would “unreasonably encroach on the personal privacy of a third party”.

The press constantly refers to Sally Zou as “mysterious”.

It’s all mysterious and that’s why blowing the lid off and sanitising it with sunshine is so very, very helpful.
