Corrupt Coalition abandons National Integrity Commission

In the lead up to the last federal election Prime Minister Scott Morrison promised a national anti-corruption commission.

Instead, Morrison put forward a farcical model that experts believe will actually “hide corruption, not expose it”.

Now the Morrison Government has shelved legislation to establish a commonwealth integrity commission until after the upcoming election. Attorney-General Michaelia Cash says the government will not pursue the legislation unless it has bipartisan support. She also advised that the government’s proposed model for an anti-corruption watchdog remains unchanged, despite widespread criticism and two years of consultation.
