ANZ now expects Australian house price growth of 8% nationally in 2022, compared with its previous forecast of 6% growth. ANZ has upgraded its house growth forecast for all capital cities with the exception of Perth and Darwin.
ANZ senior economist Felicity Emmett says the upgrades reflect the stronger than expected market momentum at the start of the year. However, it now expects house prices to fall by 6% nationally in 2023 from its previously forecast decline of 4%:
